Problem Note 52194: The Variable Clustering node gives a "character operand was found in the %EVAL function ..." error if you shorten the length of interval variables

DetailsAboutRate It

By default, an interval variable has length 8 in a SAS data set. You can use a LENGTH statement to specify a shorter length. However, if you run the SAS® Enterprise Miner™ Variable Clustering node on a data set with shortened numeric variable lengths, errors such as the following might be displayed:

ERROR: A character operand was found in the %EVAL function or %IF condition
where a numeric operand is required. The condition was: &ngroup
ERROR: The %TO value of the %DO VCI loop is invalid.
ERROR: The macro VARCLUS2 will stop executing.

To work around the problem, do not specify length values that are shorter than the default 8.
